My name is Beth Cyrus. The most important thing you need to know is that I love teaching music. I grew up in and out of music studios, as a student, and as a bystander. As a teenager, I loved hanging out in the music studio where my dad worked, bouncing back and forth between all of the teaching studios, testing all the pianos, and singing at the top of my lungs. Even then, I said I wanted to be a music teacher when I grew up.
I moved to Nashville and attended Welch College, where I received a Bachelors of Music Education degree. Directly after, I was hired as an Elementary Music Teacher in Metro Nashville Public Schools.
This position was rewarding in many ways, and provided me the opportunity to gain skills that are invaluable to me as a person and professional. After 5 years of teaching in the classroom and in private lessons, I made the hard decision to leave public schools and devote my time to private teaching.
My heart has always been with the experience of sitting with a student, one-on-one, catering instruction to the needs of that individual. Music is a different experience for every person, and that's why I value the time spent in private music lessons.
The pathway to learning music is one which has the potential to change your life forever, and I hope you consider taking that journey with me!
